Arolithos is an open-air museum that demonstrates the culture and organization of village life in Crete.
To get acquainted with the details of the interior and take photographs as a souvenir, you can go and inspect old houses, household items and craft tools of a century ago.
This small, cozy village has a church, a bakery, a blacksmith and weaving workshop, a tavern, a stone mosaic studio and a small folklore museum that houses Cretan household items, agricultural tools, ceramics, textiles and ancient weapons.
Greek folk festivals dedicated to the god of wine and fun, Dionysius, take place in a tavern with an open terrace, which offers a panoramic view of the city of Heraklion and the ritual mountain of Yukhtas.
