    • This tour is easy, enjoyable and informative. In case you want to visit the Preveli beach and palm forest, there are many stairs down to the beach, then you need to go all the way up, but this walk is optional. Apart of this, this tour does not require any special physical shape.

    The route passes through the entire island capturing the beauty of the North coast, Rethymno town, and then Kourtaliotiko Gorge on the way to scenic Preveli monastery and Preveli beach.

  • During the ride you will hear the information about the history of the island and the sights that you will visit.

  • At first, we will head to the South coast of the island, where, perched in the high of the mountains, the imposing monastery of Preveli resides. Incredible views over the Libyan sea and the natural palm forest of Preveli are just few steps from the monastery. If you like, we can follow the stairs down to the beach and walk near the river, surrounded by beautiful palm trees.

  • On the way back we visit traditional village Spili and you can enjoy a drink in a shadow with the view to the famous fountains.

  • Then we recommend you to descend along the stone path to the mountain river of the Kourtaliotiko Gorge. Almost near the water, next to the small waterfalls, there is the church of St. Nicholas of Kourtalioti.

  • Finally, let's visit the spiritual and scientific center of Crete, the town of Rethymnon. Charming appearance of the city is determined by narrow streets, where the houses of the Venetian period are distinguished by richly decorated facades, elegant window arches and stone carvings.
  • Pick-up from your hotel or any other place within North Heraklion region (for other regions of the island extra charges may apply).

  • Visit to a Greek bakery with tasting of traditional sweets and coffee.

  • Visit to Preveli monastery on the South Crete.

  • Walk down to the Preveli beach and natural palm forest (optional, many stairs).

  • Visit to Spili village.

  • Visit to Kourtaliotiko gorge (easy walking, visiting the church and the waterfalls, not hiking the whole gorge)

  • Visit to Rethymno town (free time to have a lunch or walk around)

  • According to your interests and wishes, some extra spots might be added to the program within the provided time frame.
