    Half-day tour in Crete is a good chance to experience the authentic atmosphere of Cretan rural life in the villages of Rodia and Fodele, surrounded by green olive plantations and century-old plane trees. These villages are one of the most beautiful places in Crete, combining panoramic views of the mountains and the sea.

    DURING THE TOUR YOU WILL:

  • Visit Monasteries of St. Panteleimon and Savvatyana, two monasteries of high importance for the locals, but not so famous to tourists due to the difficult accessibility.
  • Learn that in the temple of the monastery of the village of Fodele, founded in the middle of the 17th century, a shrine with a particle of the relics of St. Panteleimon is kept.
  • Visit Fodele, a green oasis surrounded by cliffs, full of orange and lemon groves, vibrant flowers, and the flowing waters of the Pantomantris River.
  • Discover the museum of prints of Domenic Theotokopoulos, the great artist El Greco (1541-1614), which are displayed in the house where he was allegedly born.
  • Take a look at the Orthodox Church of Panagia (Presentation of the Virgin Mary), the small Byzantine church which was built in the 11th century and is decorated with beautiful four-layer frescoes.
  • Pick-up from your hotel or any other place within North Heraklion region (for other regions of the island extra charges may apply).
  • Walking tour of the maze of old streets of the village of Fodele.
