AMAZONAS PARK is a private zoo in the north-east of Crete, near the small town of NEAPOLI, less than 50 kilometers from the city of HERAKLION.
The opening took place in 2011 and has since become increasingly popular.
During the season, several hundred visitors come to the animal park daily.

Today, the collection of overseas birds has more than a dozen individuals. In the park you can see such exotic birds as the Red-backed parrot (Ara maracana), Barnard's parrot, Red Lori (Eos Bornea), Ara Militaris, Ara Macao, Ara Ararauna, Nobilis, Pyrrur Molyne, Amazon Oratrix ... And this is not a whole list of feathered birds striking with their bright colors and amazing singing, breaking the ringing silence of mountain Crete ...
Monkeys live in different parts of the zoo, most of which are from Latin America and Madagascar. Every two hours Visitors to the zoo can go inside the largest Valier in Amazonas Park with monkeys and goats and treat animals. One of the species of monkeys is the famous magnets from Gibraltar ROCK APE (rock monkey). They behave relatively calmly, but sometimes they jump onto the shoulders of visitors and snatch bags of popcorn from their hands.
In a small cafe you can drink coffee, eat ice cream and buy treats for animals.
